Take a Walk Through Art in Stavanger and Experience NUART!
A street art festival that used to be held annually in Stavanger. The artworks are rooted in situationism, graffiti, post-graffiti, muralism, comic book culture, stencil art, and activism. This is an exciting and popular art form, and the festival gained significant attention both nationally and internationally when it was held, undoubtedly placing the Stavanger region on the international street art map. You will find a series of exhi- bitions throughout the city, encompassing current trends and movements in street art, created by some of the world’s leading practitioners and emerging names.
As an official partner with Google Arts & Culture, Nuart has created a universe where you can view the art and learn more about it even before you reach the destination. Google Arts & Culture can be downloaded as a separate app. A range of stories and presentations can be found on Nuart’s Google Arts & Culture page.: https://artsandculture.google.com/partner/nuart
Also known as Straen, is the largest surviving wooden house settlement in northern Europe.
It is a beautiful area of little wooden houses and cobbled streets along the west side of the harbour – just where the cruise ships moor during the summer. Almost totally un-commercialised, there are a few galleries to watch artists at work and the sardine canning museum.
A street painted in all the colours of the rainbow. This vibrant street is lined with lovely cafés, boutiques, and galleries. And numerous photo opportunities, of course.
Towers 604 metres above the Lysefjord. The trek to the rock is one of Norway’s most famous mountain hikes. Preikestolen is very popular, with more than 300,000 nature-loving hikers visiting the renowned rock formation every year.
The eight-kilometre hike starts at the Preikestolen Fjellstue mountain lodge. Allow a total of about four hours for this moderately demanding roundtrip. Join one of the guided tours that run daily from April to October (subject to weather conditions), see the cliff from a sightseeing boat on the fjord, or do both
– some tours offer combined hikes and cruises. https://preikestolen365.com/
are a series of stunning sandy beaches stretching along the southwest coast of Norway, known for their vast, open landscapes and unique natural beauty. The beaches are characterized by their fine, chalk-whi- te sand, gentle dunes, and rolling waves from the North Sea. Jærstrendene is a popular spot for surfing, thanks to the consistent waves and the long, flat beaches that provide excellent conditions for both be- ginners and experienced surfers
