What is the Continuing Education (CE) Program?
The Jivamukti Yoga Continuing Education (CE) Program is designed to support certified Jivamukti teachers (75HR, 300HR, 800HR, and Advanced Certified) in deepening their understanding of specific aspects of the practice and teaching skills.

Through focused sessions (practical and theoretical), these programs offer an opportunity to refine knowledge, strengthen teaching skills, and explore specialized subjects in greater detail – that we don’t always have the time or teachers nearby to study from.

To teach is to serve – to inspire others through an ongoing exploration for ourselves, through and ever-evolving practice and studies.

The CE Program continues this path for every teacher, by creating dedicated spaces for subject focus; from in-depth Pranayama and how to teach it in a class, to how to sequence a class, compose an effective Spiritual Talk, or study the energetics of alignment from new perspectives.

TEACHING PRANAYAMA CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE

From prana indeed all living forms are born and, having been born, they remain alive by prana. At the end they merge into prana once more.
Kaushitaki Upanishad

Where there is life there is prana. In Sanskrit, pra means moving and na means always. Prana is like electricity, in that electricity exists in the natural world in wild and unpredictable forms. Lightening strikes here and there; you never know where it’s going to hit. But if you capture that same electricity inside a wire, its movements become predictable and controllable.
• David Life

Pranayama is the bridge between the physical and the subtle, between outer form and inner transformation. Any dedicated practitioner of yoga must deepen their understanding of prana-vidya—the science of prana, the life force. It is the key to transitioning from the gross to the subtle: physically, mentally, and energetically.

In Patanjali’s eightfold path, pranayama sits at the crucial threshold between asana and pratyahara, marking the passage from external discipline to internal mastery. To work with the breath is to cultivate an awareness that reshapes perception, strengthens the mind, and refines the nervous system, preparing the practitioner for deeper states of meditation and self-inquiry.

This CE Program will explore traditional pranayama techniques as passed down through the millennia, providing a direct experience of breath’s transformative potential. Through contextual lectures, guided practice, and individual refinement, teachers will learn how to integrate pranayama into their own sadhana and share it with students in a way that is authentic, accessible, and aligned with the needs of modern practitioners.

ART OF DHARMA TALKS CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM

A single teaching can change the course of a student’s practice. A story, a verse, a moment of clarity – delivered with sincerity – can stay with someone for years, subtly guiding one’s choices and deepening their relationship to yoga.

At the heart of Jivamukti Yoga is the spiritual talk, an offering of knowledge from the scriptures that connects the spiritual teachings to everyday life. For many students, it is the element that transforms an asana practice into something larger.

This workshop will focus on ways in which we can better deliver the dharma through the FOM. This will include how the FOM can be broken down, contemplated, and approached from a variety of directions and points of view, and how to weave the teachings throughout the class and have it connected to the sequence, rhythm, and other class elements.

This CE program will focus on the art of delivering the dharma with authenticity and intention. Through the lens of the Focus of the Month (FOTM), participants will learn how to break down key teachings, weave them into a class structure, and create meaningful connections between philosophy, movement, and rhythm.

Participants will have the opportunity to craft and present a 5-minute dharma talk based on a 2025 FOTM theme, receiving feedback and engaging in dynamic exercises to strengthen their ability to share wisdom with clarity, confidence, and heart.

All levels of certified Jivamukti Yoga teachers are welcome.

What students say

Ruth is just the most genuine person I ever met. I love her way of teaching through personal experiences told through incredible stories. She's a great story teller. You could tell she's passionate about her teachings and keeping people interested and keen to learn. She awakes something in you. The way she looks at you, she talks, she walks....pure and magic.

Ruth is a wonderful teacher and really brought the teachings to life with her captivating stories.

The long lasting teaching experience of Ruth, her wide knowledge and wisdom, her emotionality is what makes her one of a kind. She is amazing in both giving lectures on philosophy and in explaining asanas in a perfect way. The way she deals with the basic classes has no comparison

Petros is very knowledgeable and great in telling stories to make « complicated » theory easier to understand and access, good to captivate the audience

Petros ability to sing and convey emotion in his voice was amazing
