PRANAYAMA AND MEDITATION WITH MAGALI LEHNERS AND CONOR
08:30 - 09:30 Friday May 19, 2023
Kriya, Pranayama and Meditation: Focus on 2nd and 3rd Chakras
Meditation on the second energy center, swadisthana, is said to bring inspiration, and meditation on the third, manipura, is said to bring joy. When we blend the elements of fire and water evaporation is the result. On a pranic level this represents the evaporation of blockages, on a psychic level, of small-mindedness and fear. In their place, the power of enthusiasm enables inspired creation. In this practice we will activate the system to attune the mind to its more sublime nature.
Live Music Vinyasa Class with Petros Haffenrichter and Ian Szydlowski
10:00 - 11:30 Friday May 19, 2023
All of existence underlies a rhythm.
From the movement of the solar systems and the galaxies, through the “sun-salutations” of the plants to our heartbeat and breath. Playfully we will dive deeper into this connection between macro- and microcosm with our breath – the rhythm for our movement in yoga-asana, as well as the possibility of total concentration and the clarity of a focused mind. Intuitively we’ll gain consciousness over our mostly conditioned patterns of behavior and the according effects. Only through that recognition we can detach from those patterns to experience the “now” originating in us as free and ever returning. This fluidity of movement will be encompassed with sweet, devotional live music that leads us beyond the relative intellect towards great simplicity and the direct participation in the original movement of the cosmos: breathe in – breathe out.

Jivamukti Open Class with Rima Rabbath and Monica Jaggi
16:00 - 17:30 Friday May 19, 2023
Ascending to the High Seat
Many of us struggle sitting with ourselves for any amount of time. In seated asanas, not only the body sits but also the mind joins in and sits with the body. By bringing our center of gravity closer to the earth, we feel more capable of observing the polarities being expressed from the seat of our unconscious (tendencies, emotions, karmas). The dialectical mind is allowed to rest as love & hate, likes & dislikes, attraction & aversion, are seen equally without being for or against. In this direct experience of the whole of ourselves, our connection to totality is revealed, from which compassion arises, empathy is born, and separation is overcome.
MANIPURA WORKSHOP WITH CAMILLA VEEN AND MORITZ ULRICH
16:30 - 18:00 Friday May 19, 2023
Twist and Burn
Focusing on the third chakra we are going to address everything that ignites our inner fire and strengthens the abdominal area. Though among the five elements, fire accounts for the smallest proportion in the composition of the human body, its influence is tremendous. It represents life.
Using twisting asanas we will get in touch with the vast energy around the navel centre. Manipura chakra is linked to our sense of transforming ideas into actions and food into energy, as well as our willpower and perseverance.
On a more subtle level, the manipura chakra is related to beings that we might have hurt. Using kriyas and meditation we will aim to harmonize these relationships and transform guilt and self-blame into true Self-confidence.

Backbends and Inversions
Many of us have never been taught to adequately and effectively communicate our needs and feelings. This often leads to painful misunderstandings and miscommunication. Backbends work energetically on opening the center of compassion (Anahata Chakra) and inversions allow the unleashing of love to flow into the speech center (Vishuddha Chakra), so we can say what we mean and mean what we say from a pure heart.
May fire nourish speech, may speech nourish heart, may heart nourish me
—Taittirya Brahmana

Nirmohatve nishchala-tattvam nishchala-tattve jivanmuktih
Bhaja govindam bhaja govindam bhaja govindam mudha-mate
Good and virtuous company gives rise to non-attachment. From non-attachment comes
freedom from delusion. With freedom from delusion, one feels the changeless reality.
Experiencing that changeless reality, one attains liberation in this life. I-AM is the ocean of
awareness. Realizing this, one feels, “I am not the body and mind, although I have a body
and mind.” Realize Govinda, realize Govinda, realize Govinda in your heart, O wise one!

Session 3: Short Talk and Meditation: Building Compassion for all Beings with Maria Macaya and Candida Vivalda
Compassion is the natural caring instinct that arises when we are confronted with suffering, especially that of our loved and close ones. Drawing ideas from ancient spiritual traditions, modern psychology and scientific research, this session will emphasize what compassion truly is and how to expand it beyond our closer circle of concern. True compassion has the potential to become an “immeasurable” state of the mind/heart, embracing all beings and our planet. Cultivating it wholeheartedly is urgent, since the biggest crises of our times -climate change, animal exploitation, social injustice, wars, migrations…- are, fundamentally, crises of compassion.

Session 1: Introduction to Trauma Sensitive Yoga with Maria Macaya
In this session, you will have the opportunity to practice Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TSY), an evidence based type of yoga created to work with people with trauma and distress. Then, we will look at the main elements of the methodology of TSY.
How is it different from “regular” yoga? Why are these differences important? What does it tell us about what it means to be in, and to heal from, trauma?

Workshop 2: Trauma Sensitive Yoga tools for regular classes with Maria Macaya
We all know that one of the top reasons people come to yoga is “to feel better”, “to relieve stress”, we also know that ¼ of the world population has trauma and that all of us go through distressing events that affect us at least in the short term.
This hands on workshop will offer tools both for teachers and for practitioners so that they can make classes more sensitive. We will explore issues such as: How do I create a safe space? How do I recognize distress in others or in myself? What can I do through the
practice to relieve some of that distress and to increase resilience?
“Modern tribes are clearly different from the mainstream and dominant society. Jivamukti is a modern vegan tribe of truth seekers who gather together to experience satsang and empowerment to liberate others from suffering – and to make history”
